Eureka Prize for Science Communication

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) have awarded the joint Eureka Prize for Science Communication for the first time in 2012.

In awarding this prize, the two organisations are joining forces to promote public awareness of science and public access to scientific knowledge and understanding. From 2012 onwards, the Eureka Prize will be awarded annually to both a scientist and a journalist. They will receive the prize for their outstanding contribution to increasing public awareness and understanding of science. The winners will each receive EUR 12,500. The prize succeeds the NWO’s Eureka Prizes and the Academy’s Van Walree Prize. The prize is sponsored by the Van Walree Fund.
