The Van Walree Fund promotes medical research. It does this by funding medical students who wish to attend foreign conferences.

The Van Walree Fund was established in 1987 with capital from the estate of Ms E.M. Van Walree. It also sponsors the Eureka Prize for science communication.

What does it cover?

The Fund awards grants to medical students who have not yet taken their finals in medicine. The grant specifically allows them to attend a conference and present the results of the research they conducted during their research internship (maximum grant per conference: EUR 700).

How to apply?

The closing dates for grant applications to attend conferences are 1 March, 1 June, 1 September and 1 December 2013. Please find the application form at hte right side of this page.

Please note: the closing dates for grant application will be changed as of 2014 to 1 February, 1 June and 1 October.

An Academy review commission will assess the applications.
