In view of their shared interests, Indonesia and the Netherlands have formally agreed on a framework for scientific cooperation that will lead to mutual benefits through the Scientific Programme Indonesia – Netherlands.
The policy framework for the Scientific Programme Indonesia - Netherlands is defined by two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The first was concluded between the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Indonesian Ministers of Research and Technology (Ristek) and of National Education (1992). The second was signed by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Indonesian Minister of Research and Technology (2002).
The MoU signed in 2002 reconfirmed the long-standing tradition of scientific cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands. It describes the policy contours of scientific cooperation, based on equality and mutual benefits. It also establishes a Joint Working Committee for Scientific Research Cooperation between Indonesia and the Netherlands.
