IAP: the global network of science academies is een wereldwijd netwerk van academies van wetenschap die samenwerken om de rol van de individuele academies in hun land en regio te versterken.

In het lopende strategisch plan (2010-2012) staan drie doelstellingen centraal:

1. to position IAP as a widely recognized provider of high quality, independent global science advice to governments and international organizations;
2. to support major programmes on scientific capacity building, science education and science communication and
3. to assume a lead role in efforts to improve the effectiveness and impact of international cooperation in science.

Recente statements over de onderwerpen ‘Population and Consumption’ en ‘Promoting Research Integrity’ zijn uitgegeven. Een belangrijke jaarlijkse activiteit van IAP is de ‘Conference for Young Scientists’ in samenwerking met de World Economic Forum.
