National Board for Research Integrity (LOWI)

The National Board for Research Integrity (LOWI) is an independent advisory body, established in 2003 by the Academy, the NWO and the VSNU. It advises the boards of universities, university medical centres, the Sanquin Foundation, the NWO and the Academy regarding violations of norms on research integrity.

The LOWI deals solely with complaints about which preliminary decision has been taken by the institution where the supposed violation took place.

Members

All members of the LOWI are also members of the Academy, with the exception of the official secretary. Members are appointed for a three-year term and may be re-elected. The Academy’s Board appoints the members in consultation with the governing board of the NWO and the board of the VSNU. The official secretary is appointed by the Academy’s Board for a three-year term and may be re-elected.
