The Dow Chemical Company awards the biennial Dow Energy Prize to showcase innovations in energy efficiency. Besides the Dow Energy Prize the Dow Dissertation Prizes are awarded to promote innovative research into sustainable development in the process industry.
The prize is intended to make an important contribution to recognising and encouraging sustainable developments in the process industry. Examples include a more efficient use of energy and/or raw materials and reducing environmental impact. The term ‘process industry’ may be interpreted very broadly. In recent years, the prize has been awarded to research and innovations relating to waste water treatment, environmentally-friendly engines, transport fuels, biomass and wind energy.
Dow Benelux bv in Terneuzen has funded the prize since 1985. The Dow Energy Prize consists of a special certificate and EUR 25,000. The two Dow Dissertation Prizes consist of EUR 5,000 each.
Energy consumption; energy use; sustainable development in the process industry
