This colloquium will bring together experts and young talent from all over the globe studying the philosophy of the Neoplatonist Proclus (412-485 n.C.). Our aims are to establish an inventory of the status quo regarding different aspects of Proclus’ thought and to develop possible lines of future research. The colloquium will result in the publication of a volume on Proclus’ philosophy, to be published with Oxford University Press.
The colloquium is sponsored and hosted by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and is co-funded by the C. de Vogelstichting, the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), De Wulf - Mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy and the K.U.Leuven Research Fund. The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences supports the international transfer of knowledge and science through funding. For example, it finances six scientific seminars, the Academy Colloquia, every year, each one attended by approximately fifty leading Dutch and foreign researchers.
