Hans Clevers, director of the Hubrecht Institute, will be awarded the 2012 Léopold Griffuel Prize.

The Léopold Griffuel Prize (Prix Léopold Griffuel) is sponsored by the French Association for Cancer Research (ARC, "Association pour la Recherche sur le Cancer"). The prize is designed to reward the accomplishments of and encourage further research among the world's leading cancer researchers. The prize comes with an award of € 100,000.

Hans Clevers receives the award for his outstanding research in the field ofstem cells and colon cancer.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 11 January 2012 in Paris.
