26 maart 2013

Zes veelbelovende wetenschappers ontmoeten in juni 37 Nobelprijswinnaars

Seven young researchers from the Netherlands will be meeting 37 Nobel laureates this summer during the 63rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. This year’s meetings will focus on chemistry.

The young Dutch researchers who will be attending the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings are:

  • David Falck, VU University Amsterdam
  • Ivo Filot, Eindhoven University of Technology
  • Verena Resch, Delft University of Technology
  • Graham Ruiter, Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel)
  • Javier Ruiz Martinez, Utrecht University
  • Evelien van Schrojenstein Lantman, Utrecht University

The candidates were nominated by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and selected by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.

Participants

They and more than five hundred other young researchers from around the world will be meeting 37 Nobel laureates for Chemistry between 30 June and 5 July 2013. The programme includes lectures by the Nobel laureates, plenary discussions, workshops and various social events.

Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings

The aim of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings is to encourage the transfer of knowledge between generations of scientists, reinforce international networks, and inspire both young researchers and Nobel laureates. The meetings are dedicated alternately to chemistry, physics, and medicine/physiology. Every five years, the meeting is interdisciplinary in nature. Meetings in the economic sciences have taken place every two years since 2004. The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings began organising this event in 1951. The Academy has participated since 2008.
