Responsibilities
  • To advise the KNAW Board on the organisation of the Scientific Programme Indonesia - Netherlands (SPIN), in compliance with the policies and political frameworks set out by the Minister of Education Culture and Science (OCW);
  • To prepare biennial SPIN work plans which cover periods of four years and to submit these for endorsement by the Board. The work plans should include a choice of priority areas for Netherlands - Indonesian cooperation that has been developed on the basis of mutual agreement between the two countries;
  • To oversee the development of SPIN, based on the work plans endorsed by the Board, consisting of Priority Programmes, a Programme for Indonesian Postdocs, a Mobility Programme for short-term training and reconnaissance missions, and supporting activities.
  • To call for proposals and to carry out the assessment and selection of applications for Priority Programmes, Indonesian Postdoc Projects and Mobility missions.
    • To advise the KNAW Board about the selection of submitted research proposals for endorsement by the KNAW Board;
    • To advise the KNAW Board on formally appointing science coordinators in the Netherlands for each approved Priority Programme;
  • To monitor progress, including the submission of coordinator reports and comments thereof to the Board;
  • To carry out interim and final evaluations of the implementation plans and to submit the evaluation reports to the Board for endorsement.
