Preservation map of Europe

The preservation world agrees that international cooperation is essential. In order to stimulate the flow of information and to enable users to find experts to consult in their region or partners for cooperative projects we have gathered information on current preservation and conservation practice and policies in each European country.

By mapping all preservation activities in Europe a better picture will emerge of what is being done and in which area cooperation is possible and necessary. We hope this will stimulate the development of joint projects and more targeted research.

As you will see the information is far from complete. We therefore ask your help in making this list complete and keeping it up to date. Please send us information on:

  1. national centers and organizations for preservation activities
  2. national preservation policy or a description of national preservation practices (priorities, strategies)
  3. centers for research on preservation
  4. major preservation projects
  5. training institutes and courses offered
  6. cooperation on preservation projects with other countries

..and send it to ECPA either by mail (ECPA-P.O. Box 19121-1000 GC Amsterdam-The Netherlands) or email

For information on preservation activities, policies, projects and organizations by country, please click on one of the countries on the map.
