As the debate about the state of Dutch education and research continues, the biggest group of scientists – the PhD students – are almost never heard. What do they think of the quality of their PhD programmes, the pressure to publish, career prospects in academia, and funding? During this discussion afternoon, they take centre stage.
PhD students and those most closely involved with them professionally will discuss various pressing issues during the meeting. In addition, professors will talk with PhD students about their own experiences as PhD students and about the practical aspects of supervising PhD candidates.
