The Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science

Established in 2005, the prize rewards outstanding scientific achievements in the field of cognitive research. It consists of a permanent token and a cash prize of $150,000 to be spent at the discretion of the recipient. Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science will be awarded to an individual person, whose transdisciplinary contribution to the knowledge and insight concerning the mechanisms and processes underlying the intelligent functioning of humans and animals, is judged of such exceptional importance or value by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences that this person is deemed a worthy recipient of the prize.

Call for nominations
To be eligible for the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Cognitive Science, nominees should be active researchers who are expected to continue their research activities for at least ten years. Their achievements in the field of cognitive science are outstanding and a source of inspiration to others.

The award will be presented to a single individual. No restrictions are placed on the candidate’s nationality or sex. The Academy will particularly value the nomination of women.

Deadline for nominations is 1 November 2009.

'for his research into the higher cognitive processes, in particular numerical cognition'.
