The Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences
|

|
First awarded in 1990, the prize is awarded in recognition of significant achievements in environmental science. It consists of a trophy representing an oak tree, and a cash prize of $150,000.

Historically, prizes have been awarded as follows:
1994: Dfl 250,000 (The Amsterdam Prize for the Environment)
2000: $150,000
Call for nominations
To be eligible for the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences, nominees should be active scientists who are expected to continue their research activities for at least ten years. Their achievements in the field of environmental research are outstanding and a source of inspiration to others.
The award will be presented to a single individual. No restrictions are placed on the candidate’s nationality or sex. The Academy will particularly value the nomination of women.
Deadline for nominations is 1 November 2009.

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has awarded the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences 2008 (USD 150,000) to
Professor Bert Brunekreef
Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, Utrecht University
'for his environmental epidemiological research into air pollution and health'.
