Research Methodology (RM) is a relatively new discipline in which methods are developed at the interface between substantive fields like medicine, psychology, education, sociology, health care or economics and, on the other hand, statistical data analysis.
Although RM focusses on the research problems that arise in practice, the aim is to
find common elements and procedures that can be generally used in everyday
research.
Findings in RM are highly relevant for methodologists, epidemiologists and applied
statisticians and for all those working in methodological/statistical consultancy and
education.
The RM 2003 workshop was centered around the same themes as came up at
the KNAW colloquium held in January, 2000 in Amsterdam by the Royal
Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. (For the proceedings, see: KNAW 2000
proceedings).

Below some other links that may be interesting from a touristical point of view.Since the workshop turned out very successful, there are plans to organize a third workshop on Research Methodology in 2006. Anyone interested to take part in this initiative (for instance for the local organization) is invited to discuss these plans with the present organizers at the e-mail address below:
The workshop was jointly organized by the Department of Clinical Epidemiology (KEB), the Institute for research in extramural medicine EMGO (both at VU University medical center VUmc, Amsterdam) and the Department of Psychological methods (PML), University of Amsterdam.
