She’s got personality! (women only)

The Academy wants to help female scientists and scholars (PhD students and postdocs) boost their careers by showing them how to promote themselves in more powerful ways. That’s why this one-day course is intended for women only. Visibility and dynamic self-promotion are crucial, for example while networking, giving presentations, during job interviews and in leadership roles.

Some people simply have charisma. They fill the room with their presence, command attention, and always manage to persuade others. How do they do that? Charisma is something you can learn!

Target group

Female scientists and scholars (PhD candidates and postdocs)

Programme

During this fun-filled, interactive one-day course, we’ll explore what charisma is and how you can develop it. We’ll draw on research concerning the effects of body language and learn how to make conscious use of it. We’ll show you the impact of pose, movement, gesture, and the tone and pitch of your voice. For example, did you know that body language is a significant factor in whether or not a job applicant is hired? And that assuming a ‘power pose’ will immediately boost your self-confidence and performance?

You’ll work with a professional training actor on practising situations that call for charisma, for example a presentation for a funding agency, a job interview,  a networking gathering, and so on. You can choose which situation you'd like to practise yourself. Learn to make a credible, trustworthy, self-assured and agreeable impression and show the world who you really are!
