Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences

The Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences supports research excellence in the environmental sciences.

The Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences was established in 1990 and supports research excellence in the environmental sciences. The prize is awarded every two years.

The Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences consists of a sculpture of an oak tree (designed by Simons Juweliers of The Hague) and USD 200,000. The prize is funded by the Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation.

A top international researcher in the environmental sciences whose scientific work still shows significant promise.

Nomination and awards ceremony

Researchers can be nominated for the Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences by:

  • Academy members
  • Governing boards and deans of Dutch universities
  • Directors of Dutch research institutes
  • Individual professors at universities in the Netherlands and abroad
  • Academies and other scientific and scholarly institutions in the Netherlands and abroad
  • The board of the Dutch Network of Women Professors (Landelijk Netwerk Vrouwelijke Hoogleraren)
