The Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Medicine is awarded to a scientist who has conducted pioneering medical research.
In 1989, the Alfred Heineken Fondsen Foundation established a biennial prize to be awarded to a pioneering medical researcher. The prize is also funded by the Foundation.
The Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Medicine consists of a trophy depicting the rod of Asclepius (designed by Simons Juweliers of The Hague), and USD 200,000.
