Academy Van der Gaag Grants

Young researchers in the Netherlands who are studying the biological, psychological and social determinants of human behavior are eligible for an Academy Van der Gaag Grant. The grant is intended to cover a research project abroad or a working visit to a foreign institution..

The Van der Gaag Fund was established by J.M. Verhoog in 1988 and transferred to the Academy in 1993.

What can you apply for?

A financial contribution to a research project or working visit abroad that makes an innovative contribution to research in the Netherlands on the biological, psychological and social determinants of human behaviour. The research project or working visit abroad must be for a minimum of one and a maximum of four consecutive months. Subject to certain conditions, the fund will cover travel expenses (round trip), accommodation abroad and a cost-of-living allowance during the stay abroad. For the 2021 tender, a maximum amount of € 56.400 is available.

Who is it for?

PhD students or researchers who have obtained their PhD no more than four years previously. An extension arrangement (PDF) is applicable.
