In the past three decades, thousands of people have died trying to enter Europe, making it one of the world’s deadly border zones. Researchers from VU Amsterdam, who have worked on this topic for the past five years, will present their research on these ‘border deaths’ (www.borderdeaths.org). Representatives of the United Nations and migrant communities will offer their initial responses.
