The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences will present the M.W. Beijerinck Virology Prize for outstanding virologists to Felix Rey and the Beijerinck Virology Premium for promising virologists to Stan Brouns. You are cordially invited to attend the award ceremony.
Felix Rey is Director of the Structural Virology Unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. His work focuses on viruses for which no treatment has been found yet. Rey can be considered as one of the most important researchers in his field.
Stan Brouns is Assistant Professor Bacterial Genetics at the Laboratory of Microbiology, Wageningen University. The research of Dr Brouns aims to elucidate not only how the immune system works, but also what solutions viruses have come up with to escape immunity.
The Beijerinck Prizes are established by the M.W. Beijerinck Virology Fund in memory of the virologist Martinus Willem Beijerinck.
