Xiaowei Zhuang

The 2018 Dr. H.P. Heineken Prize for Biochemistry and Biophysics will be presented to Xiaowei Zhuang, Professor of Physics, Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, for ground-breaking imaging methods with single-molecule sensitivity, nanometer-scale resolution, and genomic-scale throughput, and its applications of these methods to make seminal discoveries in cell biology and neurobiology. Zhuang invented and developed STochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM), one of the first and most widely used super-resolution methods.
