New prize for mid-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences

21 March 2019

From this year, the Academy, together with the Dr Hendrik Muller's Vaderlandsch Fonds Foundation, will be awarding a prize every two years – the Dr Hendrik Muller Prize – to a mid-career researcher working in the Netherlands in the humanities or social sciences. The Dr Hendrik Muller's Vaderlandsch Fonds is facilitating the prize.

The prize consists of a sum of EUR 25,000 and a certificate. The money can be used by the winner to finance all or part of a research project at his or her discretion.

The Dr Hendrik Muller Prize 2019 will be awarded to a mid-career researcher (who received his or her PhD no more than 15 years ago) working in the Netherlands, who has a sustainable link with the Netherlands and has made an outstanding contribution to the humanities or social sciences.

You can find more information about the Dr Hendrik Muller Prize 2019 at knaw.nl/hendrik-muller-prize.

Nominations for candidates for the Dr Hendrik Muller Prize 2019 can be submitted up to and including 15 June 2019.

Dr Hendrik Muller's Vaderlandsch Fonds Foundation

The foundation is named after Dr Hendrik Pieter Nicolaas Muller (1859-1941), a Dutch businessman and diplomat. After a successful business career in Rotterdam, Dr Muller served as a diplomatic representative to Romania (1919-1924) and former Czechoslovakia (1924-1932). The Dr Hendrik Muller prize is the successor to the Dr Hendrik Muller Prize for Behavioural and Social Sciences, which was awarded from 1991 to 2017.
