How to reach the Academy

The Trippenhuis complex is closed for the time being. The Academy is complying with the recommendations of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the National Government of the Netherlands aimed at stemming the spread of coronavirus.

The Academy is housed in the Trippenhuis complex at Kloveniersburgwal 29 in Amsterdam. The Trippenhuis complex is located in Amsterdam city centre, close to arterial roads and good public transport connections. We advise you to travel to our location by public transport or bicycle wherever possible.

Getting to the Academy

From Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Take the train to Amsterdam Central Station.

  • Transfer to metro lines 51, 53 or 54 and get off at Nieuwmarkt metro station. Follow the exit signs ‘uitgang Nieuwmarkt’. The Academy is about 150 metres from the exit.
  • If you’d prefer to walk, the Academy is only ten minutes from Amsterdam Central Station on foot (750 metres).

By train:

Take the train to Amsterdam Central or Amsterdam Amstel Station.

  • At Amsterdam Central Station, transfer to metro lines 51, 53 or 54 and get off at Nieuwmarkt (one stop, 3 minutes). Follow the exit signs ‘uitgang Nieuwmarkt’. The Academy is about 150 metres from the exit. If you’d prefer to walk, the Academy is only ten minutes from Amsterdam Central Station on foot (750 metres).
  • At Amsterdam Amstel Station, take metro lines 51, 53 or 54 travelling in the direction of Amsterdam Central Station. Get off at Nieuwmarkt (four stops, 7 minutes). Follow the exit signs ‘uitgang Nieuwmarkt’. The Academy is about 150 metres from the exit.

By metro:

  •  Take metro lines 51, 53 or 54 and get off at Nieuwmarkt. Follow the exit signs ‘uitgang Nieuwmarkt’. The Academy is about 150 metres from the exit.
  •  If you take metro line 52, get out at Rokin and follow the exit signs ‘uitgang Spui’. The Academy is about 650 metres from the exit.  

By bicycle

You can park your bike in one of the unattended bicycle racks along Kloveniersburgwal.

Drop off and/or pick up

Will someone be dropping you off or picking you up? They can stop briefly in front of Kloveniersburgwal 27. Please take cyclists and other traffic into account.

By car

Kloveniersburgwal has very few parking spaces. There are several alternatives within walking distance of the Trippenhuis complex. The nearest parking facilities are Parkeergarage Stopera and Parkeergarage Waterlooplein.

Deliveries

The deliveries entrance for the Trippenhuis complex is located at Kloveniersburgwal 25. Please report to reception at Kloveniersburgwal 29 or ring the intercom at the deliveries entrance (from summer 2020).

Accessibility

The Trippenhuis complex has a disabled entrance at Kloveniersburgwal 27, to the left of the main entrance. Ring the intercom and our staff will open the door for you. An Academy employee will welcome you and guide you to your destination. The Tinbergen Room, Rembrandt Room and Old Meeting Room are disabled accessible. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor of the Trippenhuis Building.

Hearing impaired

The Tinbergen Room has a system for the hearing impaired that works with both headphones and hearing aids equipped with audio induction loop technology.

Assistance dogs

Official assistance dogs are welcome. Please let us know in advance if you plan to attend an event with your assistance dog.

Disabled parking
