States routinely claim the right to create obligations for their citizens. Where does this right come from, if anywhere? What are the limits of the obligation to obey the state? The Colloquium aims to stimulate discussion about novel approaches to the problem of political obligation and to revisit controversies dividing scholars working on this topic.
