gelezen het voorstel van het bestuur van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen,

gelet op het reglement van de algemene vergadering, besluit het navolgende reglement, als bedoeld in artikel 13.2, eerste lid, van de Wet op het hoger onderwijs en wetenschappelijk onderzoek, vast te stellen.

The focus of research at the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research is developmental and stem cell biology. The institute has twenty-four interdisciplinary research groups that conduct basic research using healthy and sick cells, tissue and organisms.

De Akademie brengt advies uit op tal van onderwerpen die de wetenschap betreffen. De De la Courtprijs erkent personen die onbezoldigd en onafhankelijk, buiten de geëigende academische gremia, uitzonderlijk wetenschappelijk werk hebben verricht op het gebied van de sociale wetenschappen of de geesteswetenschappen. De laureaat ontvangt 7.500 euro.

De wetenschap in Nederland heeft internationaal gezien een sterke positie. Dat vertaalt zich naar een hoge welvaart en welzijn. De sterke positie vasthouden en verder versterken voor toekomstige generaties is echter geen vanzelfsprekendheid. Hiervoor zijn stabiele investeringen, zoals ingezet in de afgelopen jaren, cruciaal.

KNAW en De Jonge Akademie roepen de politiek op om werk te maken van een sterk wetenschapssysteem dat klaar is voor de toekomst. Landen om ons heen investeren fors. Dat moet Nederland ook blijven doen.

Het Nederlands Herseninstituut-KNAW verricht fundamenteel en strategisch wetenschappelijk onderzoek op het gebied van de neurowetenschappen. Het accent ligt daarbij op hersenonderzoek en onderzoek naar het visuele systeem.

Bereikbaarheid van de Akademie

French oncologist Laurence Zitvogel has spent thirty years studying the relationship between the immune system and the success of cancer treatments. Among other things, she discovered that the gut microbiome influences the efficacy of anticancer therapy. She is receiving this year’s Bob Pinedo Cancer Care Award for her pioneering research and passionate commitment to improving the quality of treatment and care for cancer patients.
