Johan Huizingazaal

With its historic architecture, the Trippenhuis is an exceptional venue for your event. The Trippenhuis was built between 1660 and 1662 as a residence for the brothers Louys and Hendrick Trip, dealers in copper, iron, and armaments. It has been the seat of the Academy since the early nineteenth century and for a time it also housed the Rijksmuseum, home of Rembrandt’s Night Watch and other famous works of art. When the Rijksmuseum moved to its new home, the Academy remained and gradually expanded into the adjacent canal-side mansions.

An exceptional setting for your meeting

Events have taken place in the Trippenhuis ever since the Academy was founded. Each year hundreds of guests from the Netherlands and abroad meet here for a wide range of events. The Trippenhuis and the adjacent canal-side mansions together form the Trippenhuis complex, the heart of science, scholarship, and the arts in the Netherlands. This outstanding group of buildings, each with its own special character, has recently been extensively renovated.

In addition to its own activities, the Academy makes its exceptional premises available for conferences, presentations, dinners, workshops, and meetings. The Trippenhuis complex is located in the centre of Amsterdam, close to main access roads and good public transport connections. It offers a suitable space for every event, ranging from a room in period style for an important presentation to a bright modern room for a national or international conference. The Trippenhuis complex makes its premises available for organisations and events focusing on science and scholarship, the arts, technology, and education.
