KNAW Education Prize

The Academy Education Prize is awarded annually for twelve high-quality secondary-school research papers. There are first, second, and third prizes for each of the four subject clusters. The pupils who wrote the papers receive a scholarship of 2,000, 1,500, or 1,000 euros respectively and a certificate. The Academy rewards not only the pupils, but also the supervising teacher and the schools that made it possible for the pupils to achieve such top-class performance.

The Academy Education Prize is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

About the KNAW Education Prize

The Academy Education Prize was established in 2008 to mark the Academy’s bicentenary. With it, the Academy aims to draw attention to and enhance the quality of education in the Netherlands. The submission of almost five hundred research papers from nearly two hundred schools each year reflects the great potential of talented young people in Dutch secondary education.

Inspiring teaching is crucial to imparting a fascination for and knowledge of science. Besides the pupils themselves, teachers and schools that challenge them to achieve their best are also honoured.

The Academy Education Prize is co-funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. It is organised by the Academy.
