In her lecture Upinder Singh, Professor of History, Ashoka University, Sonepat, India, argues that the fundamental template of ancient Indian political ideology and religious policy was established during the period c. 200 BCE-300 CE through a continuous dialogic process revealed in the manner in which kings inscribed their power on their realm. KNAW Early Career Award

The Christiaan Huygens Science Prize honors a young researcher who has made an innovative contribution to space sciences, mathematics or physics in a dissertation. The laureate receives a bronze statue by Christiaan Huygens and a cash prize of 10,000 euros.In 2024, the field of mathematics will be central.

The Christiaan Huygens Science Award is presented annually to a researcher whose doctoral dissertation has made an innovative contribution to one of the disciplines space sciences, mathematics or physics. In 2023 the award will be focusing on physics.

The De la Court Prize recognises individuals who have produced outstanding scholarly work in the social sciences or humanities without financial reward, independently and outside the established academic institutions. The prizewinner receives a monetary award of EUR 7,500.

Electricity is a key energy carrier in the energy transition. Electrification is the dominant pathway towards sustainability in several sectors such as transportation and heat supply, both for industry and the built environment. 'De eerste afbeelding van een schaduw van een zwart gat is misschien wel de meest iconische en meest erkende astronomische afbeelding in vele jaren, bekeken door miljarden mensen. Sara speelt nog steeds een zeer zichtbare rol bij het verspreiden van de betekenis en implicaties van dit beeld voor de wetenschap en de samenleving als geheel. Dit maakt haar een rolmodel voor jonge aspirant-wetenschappers,' aldus juryvoorzitter Ralph Wijers. De prijs, een bronzen beeld en een geldbedrag van 10.000 euro, werd uitgereikt in de Oude Kerk te Voorburg.

Jaarlijks kan er uit dit fonds aan drie wetenschappelijk onderzoekers een financiële bijdrage worden toegekend van maximaal € 50.000 voor het zelfstandig uitvoeren van een onderzoeksproject op het vlak van auto-immuunziekten.

Het De Boer-van Staveren Fonds geeft onderzoekers aan het begin van hun wetenschappelijke carrière de kans innovatief fundamenteel onderzoek op het vlak van auto-immuunziekten op te zetten of verder te ontwikkelen.

On  14 December, Neth-ER is hosting a hybrid event on Science for Policy in EU member states. The event takes place in light of the recent publication of the Staff Working Document discussing how to support and connect policymaking with science in Europe. The event is organised by Neth-ER, together with the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences (KNAW).
